the train back to cov...
I love riding trains... there is something strangely comforting about a train journey. Unless the conducter has his microphone too loud then thats just annoying. i like the cheap biscuits they sell and the random novels that no one ever reads. I like those burgers that they put in the mini microwave and come out looking like they've just been woke from the dead tho i will never ever put one near my shoe never mind my mouth. I love the blur of green colour that whizzes past the windows accented by blocks of grey and telephone wires bursting with conversation. I love the business men and women who are pissed off cos i got the seat with the laptop socket. I love them dearly and they hate me so much. its just beautiful. I love the excuses that people use for not buying a ticket - dont they know your supposed to hide in the toilet all the way??? I love the big machine that transports people through the countryside at high speed while you just sit back and listen to Shaniqua's music blasting out of her headphones. Bliss.
I've been spending quite a bit of time on the old choo choo these past 10 days, gallavanting round the country playing some songs. Mal and Aaron (bassist and guitarist) have been back out playing with me too so we've having a whale of a time getting back into the swing of playing live together and remembering that rehearsing is always a good thing... im not the best person to hold a rehearsal...i just end up drinking tea and saying 'sounds good to me' a lot - but to be fair they are both bad ass so theres not much to clean up. Aaron graduated this week and got a distinction! Clever clogs - good on you mate.
I had an awesome night in Colchester supporting the brilliant AloneMe and also playing on the bill with Andrea Glass from Bolton - i love going there cos James the promoter always has ace food and free flowing tea. Normally you're lucky to get a free pint and a shit on your shoes but James being a muso himself has the perfect set up for the modern troubadour...I'll do anything for a Twix.
We did a couple of cool gigs in Brighton and London and i ended up in the sea on Brighton beach for a new photo shoot that me and David are setting up. The water was fkn freeeeeeezzzing!!!!! My heart wasnt too pleased about it and unfortunately the shoot wasnt supposed to end up with me looking like i just sucked on a lemon. We need to re-shoot in somewhere like hmmmm...let me see... barbados.
We got free chip refills at Harry Ramsdens. And the brilliant Carly Bryant supported us and we fell in love with her. The Jaeger bombs thankfully stayed behind the bar unlike our last trip to the seaside so i woke up on tuesday with an average hangover - nothing a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea wont cure. You know you're back in England when time is measured in tea. Kudos to Bob for making it to the london gig direct from Bejing Olympics! You win the prize for the furthest travelled...
And the rain finally stopped. The sun has actually come out of hiding.

Onto the news of the moment - i can now officially announce that i will be supporting Boy George on his UK tour this October! The tour begins on October 1st and runs through November 2nd. I will be playing a 45 minute set before George - full details are on www.boygeorgelive.com . Some shows are already sold out so if you wanna get tickets then get on it quick...
Then im heading back stateside for gigs in NYC, Indianapolis and Los Angeles in November. Check website for all the finer details!
